A Night Without Daddy

Look at the pair of Mommy and Daughter. We are bored at home without our man…hence, I picked up my mobile and decided to take a few snaps and send some pictures to him!

Look at my dear girl. She is only interested in the wrist band on my mobile and kept fiddling with it!

Anyway…these are just some updates because I have not taken lots of pictures of her ever since I am employed…Sorry Ethyl, Mommy will try to take more pictures of you! 🙂

Real Darling

Ethyl is a darling! And I always tell people around me “How can I not love her?”

I was away for work today for long hours and she is ecstatic upon seeing my return! She jumps and claps! She says ‘ah’ (calling out for me) and extends her arms. When I walked pass her, she would whine and wanted me to carry her! Sometimes I purposely don’t and she would call out ‘Ma’. Today, she called ‘me’ when Dad refused to let her come to me! I was elated of course! It’s just like her calling me!

When I carry her, she would rest her head on my shoulder and pat me on my back. This is called sayang, I taught her that! 🙂

How can I not love her? This special treatment doesn’t happen to anyone, but it always happen to me! See how proud a Mommy I am? Ethyl, Mommy loves you, truly, madly, deeply! *muack muack*

Sleeping Pose(s)

Dear Ethyl sleeps with Hubby and I every night. She slept in her cot and we or rather I carried her besid me when she starts tossing and turning too much. I would carry her with me and nurse her so that she would sleep in peace knowing that Daddy and Mommy are just beside her! 🙂

Look at how she sleeps. She always toss here and there, everywhere. Sometimes I really thought that her cosy cot is too small for her. I have removed some of the pillows so that she can have a bigger tossing space. But seems like it is still too small for her.

This little sweetie is so difficult to sleep with! She always kicks her blanket. Now, she had runny nose, still she refuses to be covered by a blanket. Naughty baby! If you pull her blanket over, she would kick and toss till she gets the blanket away.

MIL blames us for turning on the aircon, but if it gets too warm, Ethyl wouldn’t even wants to sleep! Hubby says Ethyl is just like me, a difficult sleeper. I need lots of pillows and always kicks the blanket. Complaining that I often left him with very little space on bed just because I tend to sleep diagonally.

Yah, I admit! I am difficult to sleep with and now, I’m complaining about how difficult my girl is to sleep with. I woke up one day to find myself with a ‘blue-black’ bruise. After much thoughts, Hubby, Mom and I decided that this might be a ‘kicked bruise’ by Ethyl. Another day, another one appears! Oh my! It could be her, I know she kicks but…so hard on me!

Anyway, from a ‘111’ position on bed, we would have become ‘H’. Ethyl would be in the middle and you can imagine how she sleeps? Legs on my belly and head on hubby’s!

What a girl!

Attractive baby

Shall I say my baby is a very attractive baby? Can I say that? Let’s see…

We went to the airport on Sunday night to fetch Anne and Laurence back from their Bangkok trip. While waiting for them, there was a crew of stewards from a Japanese airline who wlked past us. FOr a moment, I thought “How come those girls are smiling and waving at my Hubby? He very handsome meh?” It was till this lady who walked up close and trying to touch Ethyl’s cheeks then I realise they are all looking at the excited, smiley baby in his arms!

Ethyl is always excited when she sees many people. She would kick her legs clap her hands and smile happily. And when she does that, she looks so cute and sweet.

One of the last few stewards came up and said “kawaii!” She smiled back clapping her hands!

Not long after, we saw Anne and Laurence coming out. Went home soon after.

This morning, while Mommy and I were walking out of NTUC, an uncle saw Ethyl and says “Baby, so cute!” He took out his wallet and gave us a $2 note saying “Buy ice-cream for baby!” I was like “HUH???!!! NO! NO! NO! Thank you!” He insisted and it was Mommy who tactfully rejected the kind-willed old man.

Frankly speaking, I’m very scared of such things. Especially when Ethyl is a SHE. Now, we can protect her, how about 5 years later? 10 years later? I really am scared to think.

But that uncle is also very funny. Ethyl is so young, how to eat ice-cream?

Yesterday was an extended family day for us! Yippee! Hubby doesn’t have to work, I am supposed to be back to work at noon, but called my boss and ask her if it was alright for me to take the day off and be back tomorrow! She’s great! She gave me 2 days’ off cos’ they are now busy with another project and mine wasn’t a rush!

Ethyl was the happiest amongst the three of us! Upon seeing Hubby and myself appearing at Mommy’s place, she kicked her legs, clap her hand and scream with excitement. We have to explain to her that there will be no ‘gai gai’ (shopping) as both Daddy and Mommy are very tired after two days of ‘gai gai’.

She seems to understand, but is still very happy about it! She played till she’s tired and I nurse her to sleep. When she’s drowsy, I transfered her to her hammock and off she goes into slumberland!

Hubby and I went back home for a nap too! We were practically lazing on the bed chatting till our eyelids get alittle too heavy and we dozed off!

We were so sound asleep till a call woke us up! What a call! So hateful. But it was about time that we woke up too! Hubby and I are still lazing in bed hugging and yawning…

I was being ‘activated’ to go to MIL’s place to visit them. I am supposedly to go for a lesson. But my dearest Hubby has no confidence in coaxing our little bundle to sleep, thus he kept telling me not to go. In the end, I didn’t go. Baby and I followed him to MIL’s place.

Nothing much happened there, MIL is still the same old MIL, Declan is still cute and active, Kiat is still as much as he is… Ivy wasn’t there…really the same old place…

Boring right? We are supposed to enjoy ourselves on a ‘blueless’ Monday right? However, I enjoyed it! 🙂

I received this email from Anne and found it to be very meaningful thus decided to share. I am a parent of this era and am guilty for some of the points stated! Am I over-protective???

Children now and then

So carefree, no stress. That is sooo true!

Take a very short walk through our history. How did we survive our
childhood?

If you were a kid in the 50’s, 60’s, 70’s or even early 80’s..how did you
survive your childhood?

1.- When we were growing up we never wore seatbelts in the car, cars didn’t
have airbags…

2.- Riding on the back of a pick up truck was an adventure that we still
remember!

3.- Our cribs were painted with bright colors (paint which was full of
lead).

4.- We didn’t have childproof medicine bottles, nor did our parents ever
childproof our house.

5.- When we rode our bikes we never wore a helmet.

6.- We would drink water from the faucet or from a hose in the backyard
(not bottled water).

7.- We didn’t have cell phones, so our parents were never able to reach us
(awesome) .

8.- We would get scrapes, bruises, break bones, lose teeth, but we would
never sue for these accidents.

9.- We would eat cake, bread and butter, drink sugary drinks, and we
weren’t overweight because we were always outside playing.

10.- Four of us would share a drink, we would all drink from the same
bottle and that wasn’t gross nor would anyone get sick.

11.- We didn’t have Playstations, Nintendo 64, X boxes, video games, cable
TV with over 100 channels, VCR’s, surround sound, cellular phones,
computers, online chatrooms, instead we would have tons of FRIENDS.

12.- Some of us weren’t as bright as others but when one would get left
back that was no big deal. They would not get taken to a psychologist, nor
did they ever suffer from dyslexia, hyperactivity, ADHD, ADD, etc, they
would simply repeat the grade until they passed.

13.- We had freedom, mishaps, successes, responsibilities and we would
learn to deal with them.

The question is…How did we survive? And above all, to become the GREAT
people that we are today? Are you from one of these generations?
If you are, then send this message to others from your same generation or
to others who are younger so that they can see how we survived.
They will probably say that we were very boring, but I believe that we were
VERY HAPPY CHILDREN…
