Am nursing myself from the cold bug for the past few days. The cough seems to get worse everyday, the cold, no better. I can only seek solace from my fave hobby…baking. This is really therapeutic. Since I am unwell, I try my best to keep the bugs away from my bakes.

Ann came back with pig Lleroy yesterday, baked sardine roll and bread pudding. One for her, the latter for myself. I was 13 when I baked nice yummy sardine rolls. This time, my shortcrust pastry failed. Sigh…It must be the proprtions. Anyway, I hope to try doing it again and hopefully, I can do it.

Thank goodness my bread pudding turns out well. It was based on the recipe by a fellow blogging Mom of 5 (you know who you are ๐Ÿ™‚ ).ย I forgot to take pictures for both though…

Today, I baked Japanese Souffle Cheesecake! One of our fave!

The cake would look better if I used a smaller pan. Taste wise, I can only ask my cousin to tell me as my cold was quite bad today, I couldn’t really taste the cake.

He said it was very nice…Can I trust him?! Anyway, he was so worried…he wiped out my doggie biscuits and told me Gina warned him not to finish all the cake and save some for her. Hubby called to remind me and set aside half the cake for him and not bring over to Mom’s place. Poor boy…I told him, I would save two slices for him, and that he can’t eat so much.

Now, am planning to try out banana cake over the weekend…I can’t get donut premix, else I will make donuts for lovely girl over the weekend…maybe will do so next week when Ann is back with her chubby little man. And I owe Gine her cornflakes chocochip cookies! I remember and will try to bake some soon!

Doggie Cookies

Little girl is up and well…She is back to her usual routine yesterday, and as an encouragement, I asked her what would she love to have. Her reply was simple…she wanted to eat cookies! Since it is so easy, I told her, I would bake the Horlicks Doggie Cookie for her and she can enjoy when she’s back from school!

Got this recipe from here. Simple to do with clear instructions.

Turn out was good and my cousin wiped out my cookies and left us with nothing when he went back home today! I am in the mood to bake!!

Pineapple Tarts

Our pineapple tarts! My first try…with Ethyl’s help ๐Ÿ™‚ Mom doesn’t eat pineapple tarts, but she says it looks good on my first try, and took a container of my bake for my aunt to try. Hmm…I shall wait and see what’s their comments.

Recipe I got it from Wokking Mum and improvise a little. I added in 350g of plain flour and 50g of milk powder.

My hands are itching to bake again…am not going to bake daily. But will start doing a little stuff here and there to let people around me suffer. Keke….

Mom never get to try any of my cakes. She is very afraid of taking dairy products and since i put butter in my cakes, she never tries them.

So, how was my teachers’ day cakes? Mom told me the teachers taught it was some kinda ornament that I got for them and displayed them at the shelves of the classroom! It was another teacher who notices that what I have given them is actually cupcakes that they started to open up and savour it.

Verdict? They never knew I baked the cakes myself and told Mom the cakes tasted so good like the ones I ordered for Ethyl’s 2nd birthday! I am of course grining from ear to ear…cos I have not baked for so long and I get good feedbacks. Icings are meant to be sweet…I can’t control in this case because I have not reached the professional stage yet.

Anyway, it’s a good start! Next big project is my Papa’s birthday cake, and yes, I am gonna be the baker and bake him one. Following on will be Ann’s birthday, Mom’s, Ethyl’s and Hubby’s! Maybe when Ann pops, if she doesn’t mind, I can also bake cupcakes asย my nephew’sย first month giveaways.

I am truly enjoying baking now!

My Hobby

It is no secret about my recent baking attempts. I tried to bake after a break of at least 7 years, my attempts were not so bad, at least they love my bake.

It was raining quite heavily yesterday evening after our dinner. However, I was not dampen. Hubby is really supportive and sent me to Phoon Huat together with Mom and little girl.

When I reached Phoon Huat, I was like a little girl entering my favourite playground. I grabbed a basket, and shopped myself. Browing through the shelves, leaving my precious girl, Hubby and Mom behind!

Hubby is always sweet. He knew I need to buy some cupcake cups, he quickly went through the shelves and got me a pack of 100 cupcake cups. I find him so thoughtful, though I never say it.

Between Bake It Yourself and Phoon Huat, I have to agree that Phoon Huat has a better variety of baking needs like flour, types of sugar, trays, boxes etc. For BIY, They have more edible cake decos, more ready made mixes and nice party theme packs. Ask me where I like, I love both! Prices wise, Phoon Huat is slightly cheaper, and there is 1.5% discount if we were to make cash payment.

I am so excited about my new buys. So excited that I can’t get to sleep last night despite feeling so tired. When I finally dozed off, I was dreaming about myself busying in the kitchen and trying to perfect my icing skills!
